Skin Care Routine: Acne, Oily Skin, Dry Skin, Combination Skin, Flawless Skin Tips, 1 minute video.Proper care of your skin is important not only to your personal sense of beauty but also to proper elimination of toxins and overall health.
A good skin care routine should be based upon the needs of the skin. Knowing and understanding your skin type will help you select the appropriate products. There are four major skin types.
1. Normal Skin
If you skin belongs to a normal type, the tissue will not reveal any traces of oil. Your skin should feel vibrant, elastic, and supple. It is the least problematic type.
It looks clean and smooth and has a good circulation and healthy complexion.
It is not too oily, not too dry and the complexion simply glows. Lines and wrinkles are age appropriate. This skin type only needs a standard cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine.
Choose mild liquid or soap gels for cleansing your face. Soaps made for bath, body and hands tend to be drying and should be avoided on the face and neck. When buying look for avocado, coconut, or wheat germ products. These natural ingredients are suitable for normal skin types.
2. Dry Skin
If your skin is dry, your skin will feel flaky, dry, and tight after you have washed it.
Dry skin can easily develop wrinkles, fine pores, and is very prone to aging and irritation. This type of skin feels dry to the touch and might feel rough after washing. It is usually the one that tends to age first, so special care is needed to protect and prevent the unwanted wrinkles. The hot water opens the pores and extracts the natural moisture quickly and tends to be drying so ideally the skin is washed with lukewarm mineral water because tap water is too harsh. It is important to apply moisturizers and eye creams to regularly after wash. Look for a hydrating mask with oils and emollient ingredients which contain almond and sunflower seed/olive/jojoba oils. Your cleansing creams should contain non-detergent ingredients that will rinse off easily.
3. Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, the areas of your cheeks, nose, and forehead will produce more oil. Oily skin is problematic – it usually looks greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has enlarged pores, and tends to break into acne. However the advantage of oily skin is that it tends to age less fast then other skin types. Careful cleaning, minimizing of carbohydrate consumption, and avoiding rich creams can be helpful in improving the quality of oily skin. Because of the hormonal changes, this skin type is usually associated with adolescents. Look for ingredients like kaolin clay and silica, which absorb oil and reduce shine. Kaolin also helps calm breakouts by fighting inflammation and redness. Avoid wax-based cleansers, as they are prone to clog pores.
4. Combination Skin
Most women have this type. Combination skin has patches of both dry and oily skin, and it requires different types of care in relation to particular facial areas. Dry zones, which are usually located on the cheeks and around the eyes, should be treated with rich creams and moisturizers, while oily areas, usually on the forehead and nose, will benefit from frequent and thorough cleaning. This type is most commonly characterized as oily on the T-zone area (nose and forehead), while being normal to dry on the cheeks and around the eye area. Use a foaming face wash in the morning to keep oily areas at bay. For your evening skin care regime, you should use a cream cleanser to soothe the dry areas.
