BRUSHING WITH BRACES:
To brush with braces, you will need a toothbrush and toothpaste. We recommend using a soft bristle toothbrush.
Start by brushing the outer surface of your teeth and braces with a gentle circular motion.
Tilt your brush at a 45 degree angle. This will help you reach under and above your archwire.
Continue to brush throughout your entire mouth. Including the chewing and inside surfaces of your teeth.
Pay close attention to areas that accumulate excess food and bacteria, most commonly found in between hooks and brackets
Do not forget to brush your tongue as well… Bacteria likes to accumulate on the tongue’s surface!
Remember to always use gentle strokes and avoid saw like motions.
Your orthodontist most likely provided you with a proxi brush as well. This will help you access all the hard to reach places your toothbrush has trouble reaching. Simply place the small brush in between the desired brackets and gently brush.
